About this blog

Why the title Way2much? Well some say If I start to talk on a favoured topic, I say way 2 much. Enough said. I am using this blog to give my opinion on games suitable for beginners for the Nintendo DS. There is very little information available when purchasing games, and it is very easy to be disappointed. I own several games mainly of the puzzle amusement category, and will write about these. Stay tuned!

Cate west : the vanishing files

This game is primarily a find the object game, although there are others for some variety. Every chapter consists of 5 locations of FTO with an allocation of 50 mins to start with. Random clicking is penalised by deductions of time, so be careful or you will have to repeat the chapter if you run out. The graphics are not the sharpest, so it sometimes is hard to spot small objects or ones of the same colour as the background. The hints are necessary so that you don't run out of time!!! After 15 chapters [maybe more] it gets a tad tedious because the objects have no relationship to the thin storyline. Rated F for fine if you are an FTO fan who likes a long game.

Jewel Quest mysteries 2 : trail of the midnight heart

An easy going mix of find the object and match three in a row.  You don't have hints in the FTO, but no penalties either. If you run out of time in the jewel board, you can repeat or click the FWD button to skip this section. I wish all jewel board games had this !!! Rated E for enjoyable.

Salem secrets

This was a very tricky game. I first thought it would be a simple find the object game such as Vampire moon, or the Chronicles of mystery games. Whereas these games are linear and you follow the storyline, this one is more like the Runaway games and The Secret files where you have to take the right action at the right time. I reached the end of the first chapter and thought I can play this game! however I was wrong. I got stuck and nothing could be undone or redone, as the game autosaves, so you can't go back. However through the wonders of the internet I found a walkthrough on bigfish games.  Rated C For challenging.

under the knife

I thought that this game would be ok as I had played the sequel, which has level of difficulty choice. Unfortunately this one has not. I find games that do not take players level of expertise into account tedious and a waste of money. Rated U for unfair on beginners / low level players.

real crimes

A find the object game that makes you pay attention. If you have become sloppy and click on everything without paying attention, you will penalised on this game. You have a time limit, and this is docked with every click that doesn't actually identify an item. the general play is interspersed with mini games which are not always easy to understand. An annoying feature is too much explanation of how to play, which is unneeded. Rated ok to play.

Princess Isabella Witches curse

This game has been designed for young girls. The heroine is guided by a fairy throughout the game - some say she is very annoying. I personally play with the sound turned down, so it didn't affect me. If you are stuck on a puzzle, the fairy will solve it for you, making the game very suitable for beginners. It is rated PG [scary scenes] but apart from an evil witch, finding so called evil {??} objects and banishing ghosts, its not that scary. If you are concerned, play it first - its mainly a find the objects game that has enough variety to keep you entertained. P.S. There is a mistake in the music section, the cheat is incorrect in one note.

Chronicles of mystery : curse of the temple

This such an interesting game, that when I finished it, I replayed it to access extra levels. It is relatively easy to play because it is a linear game i.e. always goes forwards. It has a decent story line and mini games to break up the find the object play.
